Frequently Asked Questions:
Business Continuity is a backup service that allows you to make and receive calls on your Commander IP Voice handsets when your fixed broadband service connection has failed or is waiting to be connected.
Delivered over a mobile broadband service, Business Continuity supports Internet telephony calls via Commander’s network and voice servers only.
The Business Gateway is a Commander supplied modem that provides Internet connectivity to make and receive Internet telephony calls over a fixed broadband network.
The gateway includes built-in cellular redundancy to support Commander’s Business Continuity service, when purchased with a Commander fixed broadband service and bundled with an eligible IP Voice plan on the same customer account.
The Business Gateway modem can identify when a fixed broadband connection has failed. Once detected the gateway will automatically switch over to the mobile broadband backup connection to support an alternate Internet connection via an inbuilt SIM card that will ensure your IP handsets re-connect and your business can continue to make and receive calls.
As soon as the gateway detects your fixed broadband service is connected, it automatically switches from the mobile broadband backup connection to the primary fixed broadband service.
Your IP handsets will register each time they reconnect to either the fixed or mobile broadband network. Down-time may be experienced whilst this process takes place.
